What’s Actually in a Northland Air AC Tune-Up

“Tune-up” gets thrown around a lot in the HVAC world, and what one company calls a tune-up is sometimes just a visual look-over and a filter swap. Here’s exactly what we do on every Northland Air AC tune-up, and why each step matters.

The 8-Point Checklist

Refrigerant charge measured against superheat/subcooling spec, not just gauge pressure. Capacitor tested under load. Contactor inspected for pitting and burned contacts. Outdoor coil cleaned with proper coil cleaner. Indoor evaporator inspected for biological buildup. Blower motor amp draw checked against spec. Condensate drain flushed and treated (the #1 cause of “water on the floor” emergency calls in July). Every electrical connection tightened. Thermostat calibrated. Nothing skipped.

5–15% Lower Electric Bill

A well-maintained AC uses 5–15% less electricity than one that’s been neglected. Over 8–10 summers in a Northland home, that pays for the tune-up many times over, before you even count the avoided emergency repair calls.

Schedule Before the First Heat Wave

The best time for an AC tune-up is April or May, when our schedule is open and we’re not running emergency calls. Consultation, transparent pricing, every call. Same-day dispatch across the Twin Ports area.
